KHS History

Komunitas Hutan untuk Sumatra (KHS)/Community for Sumatran Nature Conservation (CSNC) is an Indonesian non-profit conservation organization, established in 2015 by a small group of Indonesian and foreign conservationists working in Sumatra for nature protection and wildlife conservation. 

KHS was established under the Nomor Akta Pendirian Yayasan: No. 03 tngl 31 Augustus 2015 by the Notary Sri Andika Bhayangkara Aldy, S.H. and registered at the Mentri Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia RI: Daftar Yayasan No. AHU-0012343.AH.01.12 TAHUN 2015 tanggal 03 September 2015.

Since its establishment KHS/CSNC has supported conservation work in and around the Way Kambas National Park (WKNP) in the province of Lampung on the island of Sumatra. Since 2016 KHS has a formal collaborative agreement with the WKNP agency for ongoing conservation programs in the WKNP with a special focus on the WKNP Elephant Response Unit (ERU) program. Furthermore, KHS has supported conservation programs in the Seblat Nature Reserve in the province of Bengkulu, and in the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park in the southwest part of Lampung province.
